This project has been funded and supported by a number of grant giving and sporing organisations.
KDsports Cookley was founded by local Cookley young person, Kian. In 2012, inspired by London 2012 Olympics, he surveyed over a 100 of his peers to find out what sports they had been inspired to try after the Olympics. He made a short video to showcase his findings.
Kian’s video supported a Comic Relief funding application which enabled new sports to be introduced to the Cookley community including cycling, tennis and archery. Young people also made 2 sporting video news reports of local sporting activities.
Further funding was secured from Sportivate and Sport England to provide more community sports to the Cookley community.
Local people accessed coaching qualifications in football and tennis.
Local young people achieved Sports Leaders UK Energy Cub Training and Playmakers Awards.
Annual commissions were and continue to be received from Sports Partnership H&W / School Games Local Organising committees to train young people from across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to provide multi media event coverage of Level 3 School Games County events.
Developed school holiday sports camps for local children and young people run by local people and volunteers to the project.
WE LOVED THIS PROJECT SO MUCH THAT WE RELAUNCHED IT IN OCTOBER 2017 AS CONNECTING SPORTS, A ‘CONNECTING’ PROGRAMME.
