Police : Camera : Action : Young People #TEENSASKABOUT
This project was funded by the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner.
Worked with young people and schools across Wyre Forest to make a series of #teensaskabout short videos.
The videos were themed around domestic abuse, drugs and young people interacting positively with the police.
Video interviewed a range of support service professionals including drug support workers, specialist youth workers, domestic abuse support workers, youth workers and community safety officers.
Created a young person friendly website to showcase all the videos and interviews and also offer young people further support advice and links for the individual issues.
PHASE 2 – We were commissioned by Safer Wyre Forest (North Worcs Community Safety Partnership) to work with Young Community Ambassadors to video profile their project, sharing positive community safety messages with their peers and the community.
PHASE 3 – We introduced our innovative ‘Filmschool’ programme, complete with an online digital achievement badge system. Children and young people undertake a series of media workshops, enabling them to learn new skills in areas such as scripting, animation, and camera skills – and make a short video profiling a social issue or facility / activity for young people.
PHASE 4 – We are currently working with young people across Wyre Forest to produce more #teensaskabout videos and filmschool programmes based on issues such as young people and metal health, cyber bullying, sexting and hate crime.
WE LOVED THIS PROJECT SO MUCH WE HAVE MADE IT ONE OF OUR ‘CONNECTING’ PROGRAMMES.
